The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- MIMAROPA Region formally opened
the 59th Fish Conservation Week on Monday, September 12, 2022 with the theme: “Pagkain ng
Bansa Siguruhin, Likas-kayang Produksyon ng Isda Isulong Natin.”
To kickstart the weeklong celebration, BFAR MIMAROPA organized a motorcade around the
city of Calapan, followed by the holy mass, blessing of the booths and opening ceremony held at
the Regional Fisheries Office Conference Hall, 4th floor, Le Grace Building, Guinobatan, Calapan
City, Oriental Mindoro.
In his message during the opening ceremony, BFAR MIMAROPA Regional Director, Elizer S.
Salilig, MFT, expressed his gratitude to the local government in supporting BFAR’s various
programs and hoped that coastal conservation will continue even after celebrating the Fish
Conservation Week and MANA Month.
Guests of honors include Calapan City Mayor, Hon. Malou Morillo and Head of Provincial
Agriculture Office, Christine Prine.
FishCon week-long activities include IEC Campaigns, Fish Seeding, Coastal Clean Up, Livelihood
and Resources Day, and Fellowship and Camaraderie Day.
